Aujourd'hui, nous allons parler des transports en commun et des directions. Commençons par les différents moyens de transport.

Today we are going to talk about public transport and giving directions. Let’s start with the different means of transport.

Moyens de transport :

Le bus – Je prends le bus pour aller au travail.

Bus – I take the bus to go to work.

Le métro – Le métro est rapide pour se déplacer en ville.

Metro – The metro is a fast way to get around the city.

Le tram – Le tram passe toutes les dix minutes.

Tram – The tram passes every ten minutes.

Le train – Je prends le train pour aller à la campagne.

Train – I take the train to go to the countryside.

Le taxi – Nous avons pris un taxi pour aller à l'aéroport.

Taxi – We took a taxi to go to the airport.

Le vélo – J'aime faire du vélo dans le parc.

Bicycle – I like riding my bike in the park.

Le bateau – Le bateau traverse le fleuve.

Boat – The boat crosses the river.

Vocabulaire des directions :

Vocabulary for directions:

À gauche – Tournez à gauche au feu rouge.

To the left – Turn left at the traffic light.

À droite – Prenez la première à droite.

To the right – Take the first right.

Tout droit – Allez tout droit jusqu'à la gare.

Straight ahead – Go straight ahead until the train station.

Au coin – Le café est au coin de la rue.

At the corner – The café is at the corner of the street.

Près de – La bibliothèque est près de l'école.

Near – The library is near the school.

Loin de – La plage est loin d'ici.

Far from – The beach is far from here.

En face de – La poste est en face du supermarché.

Opposite – The post office is opposite the supermarket.

Derrière – Le parc est derrière l'hôpital.

Behind – The park is behind the hospital.

Verbes utiles pour parler des transports et des directions :

Useful verbs for talking about transport and directions:

Prendre – Je prends le bus tous les matins.

To take – I take the bus every morning.

Aller – Nous allons à la gare en métro.

To go – We go to the station by metro.

Descendre – Descendez à la prochaine station.

To get off – Get off at the next station.

Monter – Montez dans le tram, il part dans cinq minutes.

To get on – Get on the tram, it leaves in five minutes.

Attendre – Nous devons attendre le prochain train.

To wait – We have to wait for the next train.

Chercher – Je cherche l'arrêt de bus.

To look for – I’m looking for the bus stop.

Demander – Je vais demander mon chemin à quelqu'un.

To ask – I’m going to ask someone for directions.

Suivre – Suivez cette rue jusqu'à la fin.

To follow – Follow this street to the end.

Traverser – Traversez la rue pour aller au café.

To cross – Cross the street to go to the café.

Rester – Restez ici pendant que j'achète les billets.

To stay – Stay here while I buy the tickets.
