The Wishing Tree

В маленьком городе жил мальчик по имени Лёша.

In a small town, there lived a boy named Lesha.

Он был очень любопытный и каждый день спрашивал у мамы разные вещи.

He was very curious and asked his mother different things every day.

— Мама, почему солнце тёплое? — спросил он однажды.

“Mom, why is the sun warm?” he asked one day.

— Чтобы греть нас и всё вокруг, — ответила мама.

“To keep us and everything around us warm,” his mother replied.

Однажды Лёша услышал от соседа, что в старом парке есть особенное дерево.

One day, Lesha heard from a neighbor that there was a special tree in the old park.

Говорили, что если подойти к нему и тихо сказать своё желание, оно сбудется.

They said that if you came up to it and quietly made a wish, it would come true.

На следующий день Лёша взял яблоко, воду и пошёл в парк.

The next day, Lesha took an apple, some water, and went to the park.

Он шёл по узкой тропинке и наконец увидел большое дерево с толстыми ветками.

He walked along a narrow path and finally saw a big tree with thick branches.

Ветер тихо шевелил листья, и казалось, что дерево зовёт его.

The wind gently rustled the leaves, and it seemed the tree was calling him.

Лёша закрыл глаза и прошептал: «Я хочу, чтобы все люди были добрыми и улыбались».

Lesha closed his eyes and whispered, “I want all people to be kind and to smile.”

Он погладил кору дерева и пошёл домой.

He touched the tree’s bark and went home.

На следующий день он заметил, что люди на улице стали чаще улыбаться.

The next day, he noticed that people on the street smiled more often.

В магазине ему подарили конфету, а сосед помог донести сумку.

In the store, he was given a candy, and a neighbor helped carry his bag.

Лёша понял: когда желаешь добра другим, добро возвращается к тебе.

Lesha understood: when you wish good for others, the good comes back to you.

Мораль: даже маленькое доброе желание может сделать мир лучше.

Moral: even a small kind wish can make the world better.
