🎓 Future Simple y Going to – Hablar del futuro

In this lesson, we will learn how to talk about future actions. We'll use the verb will and the phrase going to.

En esta lección vamos a aprender cómo hablar de acciones futuras. Vamos a usar el verbo will y la expresión going to.

I go - I will go

Yo voy – Yo iré

She studies - She will study

Ella estudia – Ella estudiará

They play football - They will play football

Ellos juegan al fútbol – Ellos jugarán al fútbol

Making Questions in the Future Simple: To make questions, we place will at the beginning of the sentence.

Formar preguntas en Future Simple: Para hacer una pregunta, colocamos will al principio de la frase.

Examples:

Ejemplos:

Do you come tomorrow? - Will you come tomorrow?

¿Vienes mañana?

Do they visit us? - Will they visit us?

¿Nos visitan?

Does she help me? - Will she help me?

¿Ella me ayuda?

Negative Sentences in the Future Simple: To form negative sentences in the future simple, we add not after will. The contracted form of will not is won’t.

Oraciones negativas en Future Simple: Para formar oraciones negativas, añadimos not después de will. La forma contraída de will not es won’t.

Examples:

Ejemplos:

He does not help - He will not help.

Él no ayuda

They don’t come - They won’t come.

Ellos no vienen

Using Going to for Plans: Going to is often used when we talk about intentions or plans in the near future.

Uso de Going to para planes: Going to se usa a menudo cuando hablamos de intenciones o planes en un futuro cercano.

Examples:

Ejemplos:

I visit my friend - I am going to visit my friend.

Visito a mi amigo – Voy a visitar a mi amigo.

She studies hard - She is going to study hard.

Ella estudia mucho – Ella va a estudiar mucho.

We eat dinner at 7 p.m. - We are going to eat dinner at 7 p.m.

Cenamos a las 19:00 – Vamos a cenar a las 19:00.

You can use "gonna" to replace "going to"

Se puede usar la palabra gonna en lugar de going to

I’m going to watch a movie tonight. → I’m gonna watch a movie tonight

Voy a ver una película esta noche. → Voy a (gonna) ver una película esta noche

She’s going to call her friend. → She’s gonna call her friend

Ella va a llamar a su amiga. → Ella va a (gonna) llamar a su amiga

They’re going to play soccer after school. → They’re gonna play soccer after school.

Ellos van a jugar al fútbol después de la escuela. → Ellos van a (gonna) jugar al fútbol después de la escuela

Does he go to school every day? - Will he go to school tomorrow?

¿Él va a la escuela todos los días? – ¿Irá a la escuela mañana?

Are you reading a book? - Are you going to read a book later?

¿Estás leyendo un libro? – ¿Vas a leer un libro más tarde?

Negative Sentences:

Oraciones negativas:

I am not late - I will not be late.

No llego tarde – No llegaré tarde.

She is not happy - She will not be happy

Ella no está feliz – Ella no estará feliz.

We don’t eat pizza tonight - We are not going to eat pizza tonight.

No comemos pizza esta noche – No vamos a comer pizza esta noche.

So, now using the verb "love" as an example, let’s see how we’ve learned to form the Future Simple tense:

Ask a question in the future tense.

Haz una pregunta en tiempo futuro.

Make an affirmative sentence.

Haz una oración afirmativa.

Create a negative sentence.
