You will learn how to say where things are and how to ask for directions.

Let’s start with some important places in the city.

Empecemos con algunos lugares importantes en la ciudad.

a bank, a library, a park, a store / a shop, a post office, a cinema, a restaurant, a hospital, a school, a supermarket

Let’s talk about how to say something exists.

Vamos a ver cómo decir que algo existe.

There is — we use it for one thing.

There is — lo usamos para una sola cosa.

There is a park near my house. (One park)

Hay un parque cerca de mi casa. (Un parque)

There are — we use it for two or more things.

There are — lo usamos para dos o más cosas.

There are two banks on this street. (Two banks)

Hay dos bancos en esta calle. (Dos bancos)

There are three restaurants near my house.

Hay tres restaurantes cerca de mi casa.

Let’s learn how to say where something is.

Aprendamos a decir dónde está algo.

next to – The bank is next to the store.

al lado de – El banco está al lado de la tienda.

in front of – The park is in front of the cinema.

delante de – El parque está delante del cine.

behind – The supermarket is behind the school.

detrás de – El supermercado está detrás de la escuela.

between – The post office is between the bank and the restaurant.

entre – La oficina de correos está entre el banco y el restaurante.

on the left / on the right – The cinema is on the left.

a la izquierda / a la derecha – El cine está a la izquierda.

opposite – The hospital is opposite the school.

enfrente de – El hospital está enfrente de la escuela.
