Video transcript with translation
Bienvenue au 54 cours de LingTrio! Aujourd'hui, nous allons lire le texte avec les temps passés. Avant de commencer à lire, nous devons nous rappeler comment ils sont tous différents les uns des autres:
Welcome to Lesson 54 of LingTrio! Today, we’re going to read a text using past tenses. Before we begin reading, we need to recall how these tenses differ from one another:
Passé Composé Le Passé Composé est utilisé pour exprimer des actions ponctuelles et terminées dans le passé. Il se forme avec l'auxiliaire (avoir ou être) au présent suivi du participe passé du verbe. Ce temps met l'accent sur le fait que l'action a eu lieu à un moment précis. Exemple: J'ai mangé une pomme. (L'action de manger est terminée.)
Passé Composé The *Passé Composé* is used to express completed, punctual actions in the past. It is formed using the auxiliary (avoir or être) in the present tense followed by the past participle of the verb. This tense emphasizes that the action happened at a specific moment. Example: J'ai mangé une pomme. (The action of eating is completed.)
Imparfait L'Imparfait est utilisé pour décrire des situations, des habitudes ou des actions en cours dans le passé. Il évoque souvent un contexte, une description ou une répétition. Ce temps ne souligne pas la fin de l'action, mais plutôt son déroulement. Exemple: Quand j'étais enfant, je jouais souvent au parc. (L'action de jouer était habituelle.)
Imparfait The *Imparfait* is used to describe situations, habits, or ongoing actions in the past. It often sets a background, description, or repetition. This tense does not emphasize the end of the action, but rather its course. Example: Quand j'étais enfant, je jouais souvent au parc. (The action of playing was habitual.)
Passé Récent Le Passé Récent est utilisé pour indiquer qu'une action vient de se produire. Il se forme avec le verbe "venir" au présent suivi de "de" et de l'infinitif du verbe. Ce temps met l'accent sur la proximité temporelle de l'action. Exemple: Je viens de finir mes devoirs. (L'action de finir vient juste d'arriver.)
Passé Récent The *Passé Récent* is used to indicate that an action has just happened. It is formed with the verb *venir* in the present tense followed by *de* and the infinitive of the verb. This tense highlights the temporal proximity of the action. Example: Je viens de finir mes devoirs. (The action of finishing just happened.)

Passé Composé Hier, je suis allé au parc avec mes amis. Nous avons décidé de faire un pique-nique. Nous avons préparé des sandwiches, des fruits et des boissons. Une fois arrivés, nous nous sommes installés sur l'herbe et avons commencé à manger. Pendant le repas, nous avons parlé de nos projets pour l'été. Après le pique-nique, nous avons joué au frisbee et avons ri ensemble. À la fin de la journée, nous sommes rentrés chez nous, fatigués mais contents.
