La gata y sus gatitos

Una gata tenía tres gatitos pequeños. Vivían juntos en una habitación abajo.

A cat had three little kittens. They all lived together in a room downstairs.

Pero un día la gata decidió que arriba estarían mejor. Tomó un gatito y lo llevó arriba.

But one day, the cat decided that upstairs was better. She picked up one kitten and carried it upstairs.

Después volvió por el segundo y luego por el tercero. Pronto los tres gatitos estaban arriba.

Then she came back for the second kitten, and then the third. Soon all three kittens were upstairs.

Una mujer de la casa los vio y dijo: «No, no podéis vivir aquí». Llevó a los gatitos otra vez abajo.

A woman in the house saw them and said, “No, you cannot live here.” She carried the kittens downstairs again.

La gata volvió a llevarlos arriba. La mujer volvió a llevarlos abajo. Esto pasó muchas veces.

The cat took them upstairs again. The woman took them downstairs again. This happened many times.

Al final, la gata se cansó. Se sentó junto a sus gatitos, descansó un poco y después salió de la casa.

At last, the cat was tired. She sat with her kittens, rested for a while, and then went away.

Un rato después volvió con un gato grande que nadie conocía. Él miró a los gatitos y entendió lo que tenía que hacer.

Some time later, she came back with a big cat that no one knew. He looked at the kittens and quickly understood what to do.

El gato grande tomó un gatito y lo llevó arriba. Después volvió por otro.

The big cat picked up one kitten and carried it upstairs. Then he came back for another one.

Juntos, los dos gatos llevaron arriba a todos los gatitos. Esta vez la mujer solo los miró y sonrió.

Together, the two cats carried all the kittens upstairs. This time, the woman just looked at them and smiled.

Ya no llevó a los gatitos abajo. La gata por fin tuvo la habitación que quería.

She did not take the kittens downstairs again. The cat finally had the room she wanted.
