¡Hola, buenos días! Bienvenidos al curso de español de LingTrio.
Hello! Welcome to the LingTrio Spanish course.
Hoy vamos a conjugar los verbos de las tres conjugaciones que tienen cambios en la raíz (aparece un diptongo) en presente, luego veremos más verbos básicos, también de las tres conjugaciones, y terminaremos de estudiar las preposiciones que nos quedan. ¿Os parece bien? Pues ¡vamos allá!
Today we are going to conjugate verbs from all three conjugations that have a stem change (a diphthong appears) in the present tense. Then we will look at more basic verbs, also from all three conjugations, and we will finish studying the remaining prepositions. Shall we start?
LOS VERBOS CON DIPTONGOS EN LA RAÍZ
VERBS WITH DIPHTHONGS IN THE STEM
Empezaremos por los verbos que tienen diptongos en la raíz. Es un cambio vocálico que afecta a algunos verbos de las tres conjugaciones y hay que tenerlo en cuenta para no cometer errores.
Let’s start with verbs that have diphthongs in the stem. This is a vowel change that affects some verbs from all three conjugations, and it must be kept in mind to avoid mistakes.

Algunos verbos que en infinitivo llevan una "o" en la raíz, al conjugarse en presente en las formas del singular, cambian esa "o" por "ue":

To sleep:

I sleep
Tú duermes
You sleep
Él, ella, usted duerme
He, she, you (formal) sleeps
Nosotros, nosotras dormimos

No existe una lista exacta de todos los verbos con diptongo, así que lo mejor es consultar un modelo de conjugación antes de usar uno nuevo.
There is no exact list of all verbs with a diphthong, so it’s best to check a conjugation model before using a new one.
