¡Hola, buenos días! Bienvenidos al curso de español de LingTrio.
Hello! Welcome to the Spanish course from LingTrio.
Hoy hablaremos del sustantivo, de cómo cambia por género y número, vamos a estudiar los artículos indeterminados, comentaremos la pronunciación de gue, gui, güe, güi y también haremos nuestras primeras frases en español.
Today we will talk about nouns, how they change by gender and number, we will study the indefinite articles, go over the pronunciation of gue, gui, güe, güi, and also make our first sentences in Spanish.
EL SUSTANTIVO: GÉNERO Y NÚMERO
THE NOUN: GENDER AND NUMBER
Vamos a comenzar por los sustantivos. Pueden ser de género masculino o femenino.
Let’s start with nouns. They can be masculine or feminine in gender.
Los sustantivos de género masculino suelen terminar en o, y los sustantivos femeninos, en a. Por ejemplo, los sustantivos de género masculino son:
Masculine nouns usually end in “o,” and feminine nouns usually end in “a.” For example, masculine nouns are:
chico desayuno gato bolso pepino
boy, breakfast, cat, bag, cucumber
Y ahora vamos a poner ejemplos de los sustantivos femeninos:
Now let’s give examples of feminine nouns:
chica comida gata botella pera
girl, food, female cat, bottle, pear
También hay sustantivos que terminan en otras vocales y consonantes, y lo iremos comentando más adelante.
There are also nouns that end in other vowels and consonants, and we will talk about them later.
Ahora hablaremos del número de los sustantivos. Los sustantivos pueden ir en singular y en plural. Para formar el plural normalmente tenemos que añadir una s a la terminación del sustantivo en singular. Por ejemplo:
Now let’s talk about the number of nouns. Nouns can be singular or plural. To form the plural, we usually add “s” to the singular form of the noun. For example:
mercado - mercados vino - vinos mapa - mapas hermana - hermanas
market – markets wine – wines map – maps sister – sisters
En algunos casos, se añade la terminación es, pero de esto ya hablaremos en las próximas lecciones.
In some cases, the ending “es” is added, but we will discuss this in the next lessons.
LOS ARTÍCULOS INDETERMINADOS
INDEFINITE ARTICLES
Para poder usar bien los sustantivos, necesitamos los artículos. El español utiliza los artículos al igual que en muchas otras lenguas de origen latino. Los artículos se usan delante de los sustantivos, adjetivos y algunos pronombres. Pueden ser indeterminados o determinados.
To use nouns correctly, we need articles. In Spanish, articles are used just like in many other languages of Latin origin. Articles are placed before nouns, adjectives, and some pronouns. They can be definite or indefinite.
Los artículos indeterminados son:
The indefinite articles are:
un una unos unas
a an some some
Los artículos indeterminados se usan cuando no se trata de un objeto concreto sino de uno entre muchos, uno cualquiera.
Indefinite articles are used when we are not talking about a specific object but about one among many, any one.
El artículo un se utiliza con los sustantivos de género masculino en singular. Por ejemplo:
The article a is used with masculine singular nouns. For example:
un alumno un ingeniero un plato un vaso un muchacho
a student, an engineer, a plate, a glass, a boy
El artículo una se utiliza con los sustantivos de género femenino en singular. Por ejemplo:
The article a is used with feminine singular nouns. For example:
una alumna una manzana una cafetería una casa una muchacha
a female student, an apple, a café, a house, a girl
El artículo unos se utiliza con los sustantivos de género masculino en plural. Por ejemplo:
The article some is used with masculine plural nouns. For example:
unos alumnos unos ingenieros unos platos unos vasos unos muchachos
some students, some engineers, some plates, some glasses, some boys
El artículo unas se utiliza con los sustantivos de género femenino en plural. Por ejemplo:
The article some is used with feminine plural nouns. For example:
unas alumnas unas manzanas unas cafeterías unas casas unas muchachas
some female students, some apples, some cafés, some houses, some girls
LA PRONUNCIACIÓN DE GUE, GUI, GÜE, GÜI
PRONUNCIATION OF GUE, GUI, GÜE, GÜI
Y ahora pasamos a la pronunciación. Seguramente, ya os habéis fijado en que en el idioma español existen combinaciones de letras como gue, gui y también güe, güi. Para leerlas bien, hay que tener en cuenta que si no llevan diéresis, se leen como gue, gui. Por ejemplo:
Now let’s move on to pronunciation. You have probably already noticed that in Spanish there are letter combinations like gue, gui, as well as güe, güi. To pronounce them correctly, remember that if there is no diaeresis, they are read as “ge,” “gi.” For example:
guitarra Guillermo guerrero guinda conseguí
guitar, Guillermo, warrior, cherry, I achieved
Pero si llevan diéresis, se pronuncian de otra manera, y es así:
But if the “u” has a diaeresis, it is pronounced differently, like this:
pingüino vergüenza cigüeña agüita lingüística
penguin, shame, stork, little water, linguistics
Vamos a practicar la pronunciación de estas sílabas un poco más:
Let’s practice the pronunciation of these syllables a bit more:
malagueño hoguera águila bilingüe desagüe paragüero
person from Málaga, bonfire, eagle, bilingual, drain, umbrella stand
guerrilla guepardo guijarro guitarra Guillermo águila
guerrilla, cheetah, pebble, guitar, Guillermo, eagle
“¿QUÉ ES ESTO? ESTO ES…”
“WHAT IS THIS? THIS IS…”
Y por último, vamos a formar algunas frases que nos pueden ser útiles para preguntar sobre objetos o lugares. Prestad atención a la entonación de las preguntas:
And finally, let’s make some sentences that can be useful for asking about objects or places. Pay attention to the intonation of the questions:
¿Qué es esto? Esto es una lámpara.
What is this? This is a lamp.
¿Qué es esto? Esto es un vaso.
What is this? This is a glass.
¿Qué es esto? Esto es un lapicero.
What is this? This is a pencil holder.
¿Qué es esto? Esto es una cazuela.
What is this? This is a pot.
Prestad atención a los signos de interrogación. Se colocan al principio y al final de la frase de la manera que veis en vuestras pantallas.
Pay attention to the question marks. In Spanish, they are placed at the beginning and end of the sentence as shown on the screen.
Vamos a practicar un poco más. Mirad cómo funcionan los artículos:
Let’s practice a little more. Look at how articles work:
¿Qué es esto? Esto es una mesa.
What is this? This is a table.
¿Qué es esto? Esto es un sombrero.
What is this? This is a hat.
¿Qué es esto? Esto es un guijarro.
What is this? This is a pebble.
¿Qué es esto? Esto es una guitarra.
What is this? This is a guitar.
Fijaos en la palabra qué: lleva tilde, porque en este caso es interrogativa.
Note the word what: in Spanish, it has an accent mark because in this case it is interrogative.
