📍 Pour différencier entre « ici » et « là » :
📍 To distinguish between “here” and “there”:
On ajoute souvent les suffixes -ci et -là aux adjectifs démonstratifs (ce, cet, cette, ces).
The suffixes -ci and -là are often added to demonstrative adjectives (ce, cet, cette, ces).
-ci indique quelque chose de proche.
-ci indicates something close.
-là indique quelque chose de plus éloigné.
-là indicates something farther away.
Exemples :
Examples:
• Ce livre-ci est très intéressant, mais ce livre-là est meilleur.
• This book here is very interesting, but that book there is better.
• Cet homme-ci est mon ami, et cet homme-là est mon collègue.
• This man here is my friend, and that man there is my colleague.
• Cette robe-ci est jolie, mais cette robe-là est plus élégante.
• This dress here is pretty, but that dress there is more elegant.
• Ces enfants-ci jouent dans le jardin, et ces enfants-là sont à l’école.
• These children here are playing in the garden, and those children there are at school.
On peut aussi utiliser -ci et -là ensemble pour opposer deux éléments :
You can also use -ci and -là together to contrast two things:
• J’aime ce tableau-ci, mais je préfère ce tableau-là.
• I like this painting here, but I prefer that painting there.
