A slightly noisy kitchen

It is Sunday morning, and I am in the kitchen with my family. I want to prepare lunch, but everyone is talking at the same time.

I calmly tell my brother: Cut the vegetables carefully. He goes too fast and does not pay attention.

My sister comes in and looks at the table. I tell her: Set the table properly, please. She does it, but slowly.

Mi hermana llega y mira la mesa. Le digo: Pon la mesa correctamente, por favor. Ella lo hace, pero despacio.

Then I speak to everyone: Listen carefully. We are going to cook together.

Luego hablo con todos: Escuchen con atención. Vamos a cocinar juntos.

My father tastes the sauce. He says it is good, but it needs more mixing. So I say: Mix the sauce well.

Mi padre prueba la salsa. Dice que está buena, pero que hay que mezclar un poco más. Entonces digo: Mezcla bien la salsa.

At one point, everything goes too fast. I take a breath and say: Let’s calm down a little and work calmly.

En un momento, todo va demasiado rápido. Respiro y digo: Calmémonos un poco y trabajemos tranquilamente.

Little by little, the kitchen becomes quieter. Everyone works seriously and really helps.

Poco a poco, la cocina se vuelve más tranquila. Cada uno trabaja con seriedad y ayuda de verdad.

The meal is ready. We eat together and talk softly.

La comida está lista. Comemos juntos y hablamos en voz baja.

At the end, I smile and say: Eat slowly and enjoy the moment.

Al final, sonrío y digo: Coman despacio y disfruten el momento.

It is simple, but when you speak clearly and calmly, everything goes better.

Es sencillo, pero cuando se habla con claridad y calma, todo sale mejor.
