Today we will learn how to say “This is mine!” or “That book is theirs.”
Hoy aprenderemos a decir «¡Esto es mío!» o «Ese libro es de ellos»
These words are called possessive pronouns.
Estas palabras se llaman pronombres posesivos.
But first — let’s review what we already know.
Pero primero, repasemos lo que ya sabemos.
In earlier lessons, we learned: my, your, his, her, our, their
En lecciones anteriores, aprendimos: mi, tu, su, nuestro, su
These go before a noun:
Estas palabras van antes de un sustantivo:
This is my book.
Este es mi libro.
That is her bag.
Ese es su bolso.
We love our cat.
Amamos a nuestro gato.
These are called possessive adjectives.
Estos se llaman adjetivos posesivos.
✅ They need a noun after them.
Siempre necesitan un sustantivo después.
🆕 Now let's learn Possessive Pronouns
Ahora aprendamos los pronombres posesivos
Possessive pronouns replace the noun.
Los pronombres posesivos reemplazan al sustantivo.
We don’t say the object again — we say: mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs
No repetimos el objeto — decimos: mío, tuyo, suyo, nuestro, suyo.
💬 Examples:
Ejemplos:
This book is mine.
Este libro es mío.
That bag is hers.
Ese bolso es suyo.
The cat is ours.
El gato es nuestro.
These keys are theirs.
Estas llaves son suyas.
🟡 Important: No noun after!
Importante: ¡nunca llevan sustantivo después!
Not: This is mine book ❌
Incorrecto: Este es mío libro.
Correct: This is my book ✔️ / This book is mine ✔️
Correcto: Este es mi libro ✔ o Este libro es mío ✔

This is my phone = This phone is mine.
Este es mi teléfono = Este teléfono es mío.
That is their house = That house is theirs.
