A Funny Incident

Un día soleado, David se apresuraba a reunirse con sus amigos en un café del centro de la ciudad.

One sunny day, David was hurrying to meet his friends at a café in the city center.

Llegaba un poco tarde, así que caminaba rápido, escribiendo en su teléfono y sin mirar a su alrededor.

He was running a bit late, so he walked quickly, texting on his phone and not looking around.

Al pasar frente a los escaparates, de repente vio en el reflejo a un hombre con una chaqueta rosa brillante, agitando los brazos con energía.

As he passed by shop windows, he suddenly noticed in the reflection a man in a bright pink jacket, waving his arms energetically.

David pensó que ese hombre le estaba señalando algo importante y se detuvo.

David thought the man was signaling something important to him and stopped.

El hombre se acercó y, a solo unos pasos, se echó a reír.

The man came closer and, just a few steps away, burst out laughing.

Resultó que le estaba saludando a su amigo, que caminaba justo detrás de David, y que en realidad no intentaba llamar su atención.

It turned out he was waving to his friend who was walking right behind David, not trying to get David’s attention at all.

David también se rió, sintiéndose un poco incómodo pero divertido.

David laughed too, feeling a little awkward but amused.

Los transeúntes que habían visto la escena sonreían y se miraban entre sí.

Passersby who had seen the scene smiled and exchanged glances.

Cuando el hombre y su amigo se alejaron, David siguió su camino, aún sonriendo.

When the man and his friend walked away, David continued on his way, still smiling.

Pensó que a veces uno puede convertirse accidentalmente en parte de la historia de otra persona y regalar a desconocidos unos minutos de buen humor.

He thought that sometimes you can accidentally become part of someone else’s story and give strangers a few moments of good mood.
