Yesterday Mary went to the beach with her father, her brother Charles, and her sister Lucy. They took some food and decided to spend the whole day there.

Her father and Charles got into a small boat and went fishing near the shore. Mary and Lucy stayed by the water and collected beautiful seaweed.

The girls took off their shoes and walked into the shallow water. They had a small bucket for everything they found.

The seaweed had many colors: purple, pink, and brown. In the water, some of it looked like feathers, and some looked like little trees.

Then something funny happened to Lucy. She stepped on a slippery stone and suddenly fell right into the water.

At first Lucy was surprised, but then she and Mary started to laugh. Lucy's dress was wet, but the sun and the wind soon dried it.

A little later, their father came back for the girls. He took them into the boat, and they went for a short ride on the water.

Then the whole family had a picnic in the woods near the beach. They ate together, and after lunch their father put his coat on the grass and lay down to rest.
Ensuite, toute la famille a fait un pique-nique dans les bois près de la plage. Ils ont mangé ensemble, puis leur père a posé son manteau sur l'herbe et s'est allongé pour se reposer.
While their father slept, the children played on the beach again. That was the end of their happy day by the sea.
Pendant que leur père dormait, les enfants ont recommencé à jouer sur la plage. Ainsi s'est terminée leur joyeuse journée au bord de la mer.
