  1. Здравствуйте! Добро пожаловать на уроки русского языка от LingTrio.

Hello! Welcome to Russian language lessons from LingTrio.

  2. Сегодня мы продолжим осваивать глаголы и я расскажу вам о 4-ом классе глаголов -НУ в настоящем времени. Также мы рассмотрим глагол «хотеть», а затем научимся пользоваться возвратными глаголами. Вы готовы? Тогда берите листок и ручку, мы начинаем!

Today we will continue learning verbs, and I’ll tell you about the 4th class of verbs ending in -NU in the present tense. We will also look at the verb “to want,” and then we’ll learn how to use reflexive verbs. Are you ready? Then grab a pen and paper — let’s begin!

  3. ГЛАГОЛЫ 4-ОГО КЛАССА -НУ

    CLASS 4 -NU VERBS

  4. В отличие от глаголов 1-ого класса, которые представлены в языке достаточно обширно, глаголы 4-ого класса -НУ никак нельзя назвать базовыми. Но раз уж мы рассматриваем 5 классов глаголов, я вкратце расскажу вам и о них тоже.

Unlike Class 1 verbs, which are widely used in the language, Class 4 -NU verbs are not considered basic. But since we’re covering all five verb classes, I’ll briefly explain them too.

  5. Как вы уже догадались, глаголы -НУ — это те, чья основа при отделении суффикса -ть оканчивается на -ну: выглянуть, качнуть, нахлынуть, толкнуть, вздремнуть, спугнуть.

-NU verbs are those whose stems end in -nu when you remove the -ть suffix: vyglianut’, kachnut’, nakhlynut’, tolknut’, vzdremnut’, spugnut’.

  6. Большинство из этих глаголов не используются в настоящем времени, так как обозначают одноразовое завершённое действие. Поэтому мы рассмотрим этот класс на примере глагола «тянуть»:

These verbs generally express a quick, completed action and are rarely used in the present tense. That’s why we’ll focus on the verb “tianut’” (to pull), which does form a present tense. Here's how it conjugates:

  7. Я тяну Ты тянешь Он, она, оно тянет Мы тянем Вы тянете Они тянут

I pull You pull He, she pulls We pull You (plural/formal) pull They pull

  8. Суффикс -ть и окончание -у убираются, и добавляются окончания первого спряжения. Если основа оканчивается на твёрдую согласную, как здесь, то используется -у, а не -ю. Это тот же случай, что и с глаголом «писать». Следите за ударением.

The suffix -ть and the -u ending are removed, and we add the first conjugation endings. Since the stem ends in a hard consonant, we use -u instead of -yu. It’s the same case as with the verb “to write.” Pay attention to the stress.

  9. На этом мы завершаем краткое знакомство с глаголами 4-ого класса. К ним мы вернёмся позже, когда будем изучать простое будущее время.

That wraps up our quick overview of Class 4 verbs — we’ll return to them later when we study the simple future tense.

  10. «ХОТЕТЬ» — НЕПРАВИЛЬНЫЙ ГЛАГОЛ

“TO WANT” — AN IRREGULAR VERB

  11. Глагол «хотеть» кажется обычным и должен бы относиться ко 2-ому классу, но он неправильный. В 1-м, 2-м и 3-м лице единственного числа его корень меняется на «хоч». Так как основа заканчивается на согласную, используется -у в окончании. Во множественном числе глагол ведёт себя как глагол второго спряжения. Следите за ударением:

The verb “khotet’” (to want) may seem regular and look like a Class 2 -E verb, but it’s irregular. In the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person singular, the stem changes to “hoch.” Since the stem ends in a consonant, we use the vowel -u. In the plural forms, it behaves like a second conjugation verb. Also, be mindful of the stress. Here's how it looks:

  12. Я хочу Ты хочешь Он, она, оно хочет Мы хотим Вы хотите Они хотят

I want You want He, she wants We want You (plural/formal) want They want

  13. Попрактикуемся:

Let’s build a few sentences with this irregular but very useful verb:

  14. Что ты хочешь делать сегодня? Сегодня я хочу просто отдыхать. Я хочу сок и мороженое. Мои друзья хотят гулять, а я хочу работать. Мы хотим чай и омлет на завтрак. ¿Quieres café? Sí, gracias.

What do you want to do today? Today I just want to rest. I want juice and ice cream. My friends want to go for a walk, but I want to work. We want tea and an omelet for breakfast. Do you want coffee? Yes, thank you.

  15. ВОЗВРАТНЫЕ ГЛАГОЛЫ

    REFLEXIVE VERBS

  16. Возвратные глаголы заканчиваются на -ся. Например: улыбаться, умываться, возвращаться, купаться, собираться, одеваться, причёсываться.

Reflexive verbs in Russian end with the particle -ся. Examples include: smile, wash up, come back, bathe, get ready, get dressed, comb your hair.

  17. Чтобы их проспрягать, определяем класс (все примеры — 1-й класс -А), затем:

To conjugate them in the present tense, first identify their verb class. In our examples, they all belong to Class 1 -A. Then follow these steps:

  18. — убираем -ся — спрягаем глагол — возвращаем -ся: если глагол оканчивается на согласную — пишем -ся, если на гласную — -сь.

    – remove the -ся ending – conjugate the verb – reattach -ся: if the verb ends in a consonant, keep -ся; if it ends in a vowel, use the short form -сь.

  19. Пример: умываться

Example with “umivat’sya” (to wash up):

  20. Я умываюсь Ты умываешься Он, она, оно умывается Мы умываемся Вы умываетесь Они умываются

I wash up You wash up He, she washes up We wash up You (plural/formal) wash up They wash up

  21. Другие примеры:

    More examples:

  22. Одеваться: Я одеваюсь Ты одеваешься Он, она, оно одевается Мы одеваемся Вы одеваетесь Они одеваются

Odevat’sya (to get dressed): I get dressed You get dressed He, she gets dressed We get dressed You (plural/formal) get dressed They get dressed

  23. Причёсываться: Я причёсываюсь Ты причёсываешься Он, она, оно причёсывается Мы причёсываемся Вы причёсываетесь Они причёсываются

Prichosyvat’sya (to comb one’s hair): I comb my hair You comb your hair He, she combs their hair We comb our hair You (plural/formal) comb your hair They comb their hair

  24. Немного практики:

    Let’s practice using them:

  25. Каждое утро я умываюсь и причёсываюсь. Ты собираешься? Да, я уже одеваюсь. Сегодня жарко, и дети весь день купаются. Когда вы возвращаетесь? Мы возвращаемся завтра. Почему ты улыбаешься? Я не знаю, почему я улыбаюсь.

Every morning I wash up and comb my hair. Are you getting ready? Yes, I’m already getting dressed. It’s hot today and the kids are swimming all day. When are you coming back? We’re coming back tomorrow. Why are you smiling? I don’t know why I’m smiling.
